Food replocators, fish,eating insects such as grasshoppers or locusts,and using the farms the author does mention S being built would help. Elementary Gary school knowledge of atoms would suggest that food is made of such and the food court, do be generated through use of atoms. Seeds in plants outnumber human being hs there are many years of these. Insects outnumber human beings pound per pound so could be eaten also. The author has a bias against population which seems to be had by wealthy people of which the main character terms is one.that is tbe bias toward thinking too many years people on the planet is something people with wealth appear to have.
