Brainwashing and Robert e. Heinlein's children of Methuselah and revolt in 2100 science fiction books.

Page 404 of Children of Methuselah by Robert E. Heinlein features eugenicist thought in the form of the phrase one of the mental defectives not quite moron but not a genius. In a more early story called Coventry as well as in Children of Methusaleh references to psychometrics and determining if a person is a threat to society are made. The solution in the despicable set up is to insitutionalize he person reccommend those with violent tendencies for psychiatric evaluation. This then begs the question of socialism and how this is rejected by the U.S. Authorities when doing so would harm society. Also the assumption is made that the decisions of an individual rather than that of many in society could possibly harm it. Also brainwasahing of masses of people induces them to go contrary to commonsense so punishing them rather than stopping brain washing is use less. AExamples of brainwashing can be seen in the oil industry and implying citizens need to pay for minutes they speak on the phone. other brainwashing are film previews and implying paying for those required and so it goes through education
